Hy-mum

I'm trying to shop on-line for something to go over the Chadwick's dress (yes, I put this off a bit long) and Jake is "helping." He saw this picture and exclaimed, "Hy-mum!" Hyrum has evolved from Humee to Hymum. :) The thumbnail actually did look a bit like Hyrum at first glance. Kind of.

SEE MATT's WORK

Matt finished re-making the rock wall at the bottom of the yard yesterday. He says it will still be standing in 1000 years when another civilization excavates in our yard!!

ARE THESE YOURS?

Someone gave me these earrings to hold in my purse awhile ago and I can't remember who's they are. If any of you recognize and/or want to claim them, let me know. Courtney says they're not hers, although that's the first person I would have guessed!

DID YOU THANK GRANDMA

This is a note to all who received money from Grandma recently....did you send her a Thank you note?? If not, get busy. Just a reminder....when people send you checks in the mail, please deposit them ASAP so they aren't left wondering if the check got lost in the mail. Also, please send a note of thank ASAP so they feel good about giving you a gift, which could lead to future gifts.

NO MORE TREE

This is your good looking youngest brother (Well, not really, it's the mom, but you know Matt's never going to blog anything so I'll do it for him!!)
Here I am at home in Kentucky servicing lawn mowers and doing yard work. The other day I was bored with nothing to do so I went out back and cut down the big tree that hangs over the deck. It was on the list of MOM-JOBS for the summer. I got a saw and started at the top and cut off all of pieces of the top of the tree and worked my way down cutting of the limbs. After sweating in the hot sun for a couple of hours I got it down to where the trunk could be cut with an ax and just as I was getting started Dad came out and said I looked like I was tired so he took the ax and cut down the tree! Actually he thought my wrists were probably worn out and was trying to give them a break. (That's his story and he's sticking with it). Then he let me pick up all of the limbs and bundle all of the branches and clean up the yard. He's such a thoughtful dad!! Mom left for work in the morning with a tree hanging over the deck and when she got home all that was a couple of leaves and a long skinny trunk. She's pretty excited because now the bottom deck won't get all green and moldy and the tree won't be dropping leaves all over the bottom deck everyday.
I also got a great, new suite. Don't I look GOOD in it!! I'll have girls chasing me as fast as they can!!

In case you ever wonder what I do at work all day....

I need to choose 3 of these to blow up and display at the reception-- they can be b&W, sepia, or full color. The red one doesn't really match the rest in style, but it would let us do three different outfits. any ideas?

online shopping!

I'm trying to decide what shoes to get for my wedding. I'm open to white or green, but most of these are green. I'm interested in flats, so there's more of a height difference. Although, an inch or so would also look good with the length of my dress. Let me know what you think of these options:

$13 (Target, left)

$40 (left with flower)

Walking Cradles Women's Candice Slides - 71330$36 (left)

Yes, That's Your Nephew/Grandson Romping in the River in Nothing But a Cowboy Hat

I just like this picture. :) Doug and Jake went on a camp out this weekend and had a great time. Well, Jake had a great time and Doug came home exhausted. He told me he thought Jake would want to sit around the campfire roasting hot dogs and marshmallows, but instead he wanted to throw things into the fire, get muddy in the stream and track the mess into the tent. I think they both had fun though. We all drove up to the canyon (Hobble Creek) on Saturday and again on Sunday. There's a walking path up there, as well as a reservoir, and it's really pretty area.

WHERE IS EVERYBODY?

Ok, it's been awhile since anybody posted anything to this blog. Laurel has a good excuse (she had a baby) but what about the rest of us??
It's fun having Matt and Courtney home for the summer. So far I haven't seen much of Courtney as she's been training at her job from 3-midnight. She just got her new schedule, though, and she'll be working 1l-5:30 with Sundays and Thurs. off so she'll be able to eat supper with us. I enjoy coming home from work and seeing Matt standing in the garage fixing a lawn mower, making a bowl, or tinkering on something else. He keeps collecting lawn equipment. In the past two weeks he's been given a 2 lawn edgers, a weed wacker, and a lawn mower. I don't think we'll be parking in the garage anytime soon!
My free time, lately, has been spent trying out cupcake recipes for Heather's Open House here in Kentucky. I think I'm on my 8th recipe. Some of the are pretty yummy. I found another one today for a strawberry cupcake with strawberry cream cheese filling and strawberry buttercream frosting. YOu'd think I'd have tons of cupcakes sitting around the house, but it seems like I make a batch of 24 cupcakes and before night they're all gone. Did I also mention that none of us are losing any weight this summer?
