Today I discovered that I did not have any more windshield wiper fluid in my car. So, I went to the store, bought some fluid, opened the hood of my car, and had a startling revelation...... I have never opened the hood of my car before. Let me repeat that- I HAVE NEVER OPENED THE HOOD OF MY CAR THAT I HAVE OWNED FOR ALMOST TWO YEARS!!!!!
This is the first time in the last, oh, 14 years that I have not had to open the hood of my car to add oil, jumpstart the battery, or see why there is smoke coming from the hood.......
Have I mentioned how much I love my car?? The car payment is a small price to pay for such joy....
Congratulations Heather on the job!! It sounds like a great job for a "natural leader" such as yourself :) As for your lack of job offers, Jenna, take comfort knowing that I also do not have any employment plans come this summer. Maybe I will move into the basement with you.....
Congratulations to you, Heather, on an amazing job offer. The phrase "Save the best for last" comes to mind. Jenna, we love you even if you have to come live in our basement. If Dad gets his detectors working maybe he can hire you as his legal consultant and you can just live out of our basement forever!! (If that's not incentive to go get a real job, I don't know what is). Laurel, glad to hear that Jake likes new clothes now. I've got a couple of things I bought for him but haven't sent them because I thought he didn't find clothes to be an acceptable package item. Maybe I"ll sent a few with other things occassionally. It's in the mid 70's here today. SOOOO nice. I'm off to try to buy some sod to plant in the back yard.
hELP...TECHIE FAMILY MEMBERS. (First thing I need to do is get the type off of CAPS!!). When I go to post a comment it says Choose a Profile. What do I choose? I keep writing these absolutely amazing comments and they're not going anywhere. (You all know what absolutely amazing things I can write....NOT).
I don't have a job offer. I'm still completely unemployed. Just thought I'd put that out there. :-)
I'll be the law graduate living in my parents' basement, and I can't say that I'm bothered by that idea just yet. Maybe in July it'll start getting to me.
Congratulations on the job offer, Heather!

I FINALLY GOT A JOB OFFER! (and it was a really good one!) So I'll most likely be working for Avery Dennison in a few months. :)
For those of you who don't know about Avery Dennison, here are a few things from Wikipedia:
"...a major global manufacturer and distributor of pressure sensitive adhesive materials (such as self-adhesive labels), office products, and various paper products."
"currently headquartered inPasadena, California."
"As of 2008, Avery ranked 376 in the Fortune 500 list with total sales of $6.7 billion. Avery Dennison's pivotal line of products are found in their Pressure-Sensitive Materials segment, responsible for 54% of sales. Avery currently employs 36,000 men and women all over the world, with manufacturing and distribution facilities in over 60 countries."
THANKS DOUG. This is much easier!!
If the thought ever crosses your mind to get any part of your body waxed, just remember, we have very sensitive skin......!!! And, if that isn't a deterent, just give me a call and I will disuade you......
It was a beautiful day here on Sat. so Dad and I decided to go for a drive. We ended up driving to Liberty, which is about an hour from Lexington down windey country roads. There were lots of 'wild'daffodils blooming in fields, along the road etc. So very pretty. On the way home I said "Lets take this other road and see some new territory". The sign said Lexington 34 miles so I didn't figure we could be too far off the beaten trail. 2 hours later (after seeing all sorts of country) we ended up at home. Dad said he's planned on a nice 3 hour drive; not a 5 1/2 hour drive.
OK, now that everyone's had a chance to play around with the blog, is there anything that's not working like you think it should? Or any bells and whistles I should add? Comments about the color scheme, etc?
I have my first job interview!!!!

And it's in Murray Utah..... which means that I will be flying into SLC on April 8th and leaving April 11th. Anyone want to come stay with me in my hotel on Friday night, and party Hatch style in Salt Lake the following day? I was also kind of hoping that we could maybe have a "Hatch Sunday dinner" on Saturday so I don't feel so out of the loop. And true to tradition, you can all bring your "significant others". (Courtney, that means you! and Heather, too, and Jenna, you have three weeks to decide who that would be.....). Whatta you think? Wouldn't it be ironic if I ended up moving back to Utah?
PS- can someone please give me a ride to the airport on Saturday?? My plane leaves ~3pm.

Jenna, now you have me wondering what your hair looks like since it's better than in Dec. Post a picture. Heather, Your camping experience brings back so many memories...not all of them good. Matt sounds like he's met his soul mate in Claudio...Both like to do crazy things and not much talking!
HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY! I hope you all got out your ancestors life histories and read up on your Irish ancestors....Oh wait....we don't have any! We have English, Scottish, even some from Africa, but none from Ireland. Oh well, I hope you wore some green anyway. Sue and I had a nice Chicken sandwich from McDonalds...That's an Irish eating establishment isn't it??
This blogging is a bit frustrating... (especially considering I've had a blog before for school so I should know how to find the "post" screen...) But here is an update on the past weekend when we went CAMPING in the COLD to Arches National Park. I decided that if I'm graduating and possibly leaving Utah, I'd better hit up some of these "famous places".
Over breakfast we were so cold that Hyrum stuck his hand in the fire. Not necessarily something I would do, but to each his own. When he saw that his hand was covered in black soot he decided to play the part of Lamanite: he drew war paint, borrowed matt's hatchet, and had some fun. [another non-conventional camping thing he tried doing was throwing a marshmallow INTO the fire, pushing it around with a stick, then picking it up with his hand and eating it. Matt and I were slightly aghast--I think us Hatches are very normal.]
We went back down the way we came up, and 15 minutes later Claudio and Matt started wandering back. They went through several more rock passes trying to get back. But they're both alive. Funny thing is, those two didn't say a word to each other the entire day of hiking side-by-side, and after they got lost and almost died you'd think they were best
friends.
After the climbing we decided that we wouldn't stay and camp another night. (TOO COLD, and it was looking like rain.) So we found a picnic area, made tinfoil dinners, and fried plantains in the only liquid we had: Sunny D. It smelled great, and tasted good. The wind started blowing everything away right when we finished eating, and as we finished packing the car up, a HUGE lightening storm began. We'd be driving along the road in the pitch dark, and a huge flash would light up the sky for a second showing the entire park as if it were daytime--pretty cool. As if it weren't fun enough driving in water-covered roads, an hour later it started to SNOW. (If any of you recall dad's stories of driving in the snow and not knowing where the edge of the road was, that's what it felt like. Part of the way the rumble strip had to guide us. The snow only delayed us an extra 1.5 hours, and we eventually made it home, to sleep in our WARM comfortable beds.
For those who haven't been to Arches--- I'd highly recommend it. but try going when its warmer. And don't stray from the beaten trail. And reserve a campsite, because its apparently "required."
Congrats on reaching 31 years, Mom & Dad! May the next 31 years be twice as enjoyable as the first.
My hair looks so much better now than it did December 23 at 4:30 pm.
FIRST BLOG
This could be a learning curve...never blogged before. How come it looked so easy when Julie was doing it on Julie versus Julia??
Dad and I got to clean the Lousiville Temple on Sat. evening. It was our first time and we enjoyed it a lot. I got to go down below the baptism font and dust the oxen and mop the floor. That was exciting, especially when one of the oxen jabbed me in the shoulder as I was standing up! I called Courtney later and told her that I had got to dust the oxen and (surprise) there were 12 of them. When she asked why I told her it must have been that they decided to add an extra ox for Manasseh and Ephraim. She thought that was pretty cool until I told her I was just kidding. I told the people at FHE last night the same thing and they believed me too. I guess I'll have to stop telling that to people or another Mormon legend will have begun.
